Journey Through Pen And Paper

NO SPOILERS. I have fINALLY gotten around to reading this amazing book. I went in with high hopes after watching YouTube reviews by lovely booktubers such as Sasha Alsberg ( abookutopia ), and I can honestly say that I was definitely not disappointed. Before going any further, I'd just like to add that the cover is so beautiful in real life. There's a lovely silver shine to the vines that is barely visible in the picture. I love it.

Here comes a bit of a controversial post to celebrate the new year, 2017. I've read many books in 2016, and while I have loved majority of them, it is no lie that there have been a few that I disliked. Greatly. I mean no offense to the writers, or to the people who love these books. It's great that you enjoy them, and by all means continue doing so. This is just my opinion. I hope you will respect that. NO SPOILERS. I read this book at midnight in one sitting. Didn't put it down once. I didn't even notice the tears silently running down my face when I finished.  The Kite Runner is a moving story about the friendship between two boys, the hardships one has to face, regrets, love, and redemption.  There is Amir, a rich boy with all the luxury one can have in life, and there is Hassan, the servant boy in Amir's household, living in a mere broken down shack behind Amir's mansion. These two boys have a strong bond. Hassan is willing to do anything for Amir. One day, this loyalty Hassan has for Amir changes both their lives.  It is so touching, so moving. I can't even exaggerate with this book. I have read Hosseini's 'A Thousand Splendid Suns' as well (review on that coming soon), but personally, Kite Runner is the champion. It's been a chaotic year, but 2015 is finally coming to an end. Every year is an year for new books, and the amount I've read is overwhelmingly large. I've picked out a few, in no order whatsoever, that I thought were the most memorable.  In The Unlikely Event - Judy Blume Judy Blume has put together a story of three generations, following 15 year old Miri Ammerman, and how three plane crashes changed hers and many others lives. Family, friends, and strangers are brought together in this touching tale, each generation passing on love and friendship to the other. I personally liked it a lot, because not only is Judy Blume a childhood favorite, but the hauntingly beautiful way each person's life is woven together. It is definitely a book I am reluctant to lend to other people. Room - Emma Donoghue This is one book that left a lasting impression on me.
